This 8-week course aims to introduce learners to the basics of Mandarin Chinese and foundational elements of Chinese culture in an inclusive and beginner-friendly environment.

The course will cover:

Basic Mandarin Topics: polite expressions, numbers, colours, family and occupations, daily activities, expressing likes and dislikes.
Chinese Characters: origins and evolution of characters, cultural meanings behind pictographs and ideographs, stroke order, basic radicals, and strategies for recognizing and remembering characters.
Practical Situational Chinese: shopping language, polite bargaining, and ordering food in restaurants.
Chinese Cultural Experiences: tea culture and tea-tasting, calligraphy practice, Taiji introduction, traditional paper-cutting, and learning to make dumplings by yourselves.
Integrated Cultural Insights: festivals, customs, lifestyle comparisons, and essential cultural etiquette.
